Doctorate of Medicine

The University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine is a foreign (offshore) medical school located on the Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius, Netherlands-Antilles. The University of Sint Eustatius offers a flexible program of Basic Sciences followed by clinical rotations at prestigious US hospitals or, if you prefer, top international clinical sites. The University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine is listed by the World Health Organization (WHO), and its rigorous curriculum is accredited by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Like their counterparts from American medical schools, therefore, students of the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine are eligible to write the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE), leading to the degree of Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) and to residencies and medical licensure in the United States.

We invite you to explore our web site and consider fulfilling your dream of becoming a physician (http://www.eustatiusmed.edu).

Supplementing its medical doctoral program (see below), the University of Sint Eustatius offers training leading to technical certification, a Diploma, or a Master's Degree in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Students may complete requirements for the Programs of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine while enrolled in the medical doctoral program at the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine. Alternatively, persons from a variety of medical and nonmedical fields seeking to expand their horizons may conduct their studies in undersea and hyperbaric medicine as their sole endeavor on Sint Eustatius. Also, many medical students from the United States and Canada find that the Programs of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine offer attractive prospects for the fulfillment of elective clinical rotations.

Medical students enrolled in the Programs of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine gain several advantages over those enrolled solely in a medical doctoral program. First, participating students will have the opportunity to examine and provide care directly to patients in the hyperbaric environment, thus gaining a practical experiential edge. Second, as certified hyperbaric chamber tenders (i.e., caregivers), drivers (i.e., operators of the hyperbaric chamber), and recorders, students have official documentation of their clinical experience.
